Egg dumplings have repeatedly landed people in hot water. In 2021, an Austrian police officer was fined €6,300 and given a ten-month suspended prison sentence for posting a photo of the dish on Facebook on April 20, with the caption: “Lunch today! Eiernockerl with green salad!”
